In recent years, our province has firmly adhered to the two bottom lines of development and ecology, continuously accelerating the pace of land greening, significantly increasing the forest area, and achieving a forest coverage rate of 55.3%. Forest resources account for half of our province's land area. Our province has successively issued the "three-year doubling plan for the forestry industry in Guizhou Province (2015-2017)" and the "Implementation Plan for Promoting the Development of the Forestry Industry in the Province". The forestry output value of the province has increased from 61.2 billion yuan in 2014 to 200 billion yuan in 2017.
Nevertheless, the current development of the forestry industry in our province is not commensurate with the abundant forest resources, and it is far behind the level of forestry industry development in developed provinces. The promulgation of the "Plan" aims to revitalize and monetize Guizhou's vast forest resources, accelerate the development of the forestry industry, and cultivate the forestry industry as a new growth pole for Guizhou's economic development. At the same time, actively promote poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in Guizhou. This includes: oil tea industry, prickly pear industry, walnut industry, bamboo industry, flower seedlings and precious forest industry, woody traditional Chinese medicine industry, industrial raw material forest industry, ecological high-quality fruit industry, ecological organic tea industry, and national reserve forest industry.
The prickly pear industry has entered a high-speed era and developed rapidly!
Guizhou is the origin of prickly pear, and the development of prickly pear industry has unique conditions. The current area of prickly pear in the province is 2.07 million mu, distributed in 52 counties (cities, districts) throughout the province. The fresh fruit production of prickly pear in the province is 133300 tons, with a total output value of 2.306 billion yuan.
According to the "Plan", by 2020, the construction scale of the prickly pear industry base in the province will reach 5 million mu, including 3.11 million mu of newly produced area, 1.09 million mu of cultivated area, and 800000 mu of intensive management area. Build 5 new prickly pear nurseries with an area of over 300 acres, and build 6 concentrated and contiguous prickly pear industrial parks with an area of over 100000 acres.
The province plans to produce 4.8 million tons of fresh prickly pear fruits annually, with an annual output value of 40 billion yuan in the primary industry. Through deep processing and the combination of forestry and tourism, the prickly pear industry will be cultivated into a supporting forestry industry that exceeds 100 billion yuan.
